Hello! My name is Jason Wagner, and I'm a software developer.
My primary job is I'm a developer in the Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning (OTTL) at Wilkes University, a small liberal arts college in Wilkes-Barre, PA. To explain it as quickly as possible without using up all of the future posts on the first day, OTTL is responsible for supporting the academic systems Wilkes utilizes, and my job focuses on integrating these systems to provide the functionality they don't already have through their APIs.
In addition to my primary job with OTTL, I also do the following in my free time:
I teach as an adjunct professor at Wilkes in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the College of Science and Engineering and the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Management in the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership. The courses I teach every semester are the general education computer literacy course and the introductory course in Excel for the business analytics minor. I also teach courses in databases, web development, software integration, and management information systems.
I speak for Wilkes' Center for Continued Learning to provide continuing education hours for accountants and healthcare professionals on various technology-related topics.
I develop applications for Wilkes that are sometimes not directly related to my work in OTTL but fill a larger need.
I administrate the technical aspects of the Wilkes site of the Annual Mid-Atlantic Regional Contest of the International Collegiate Programming Contest.
I assist faculty and others in research, either through the investigation of topics, or providing support in areas like data collection or processing for others' topics.
I write Excel formulas for everything and everybody.
I consult to solve technology problems for other organizations.
