Hello! My name is Jason Wagner, and I’m a software developer, and a whole bunch of other things.
I decided to start this Articles section of my site to show some of the projects I’ve made, sometimes as a work-in-progress, and otherwise just some things I tinker with as far as programming goes. I intend to use this section of my site for mostly code-related posts, but there will be some here and there where I talk about related things, such as applications like Things that I use to manage my work and my painfully intricate decision on choosing Source Code Pro as the font I use in all of my editors.
As I attend conferences, I’ve found that I’ve learned the most from just hearing about what other programmers at other institutions have done, and I always come home with a list of things I’d like to do or try that’s longer than the list of what I’ve accomplished that year. I’m hoping by opening a discussion of some of the things I do can provide that same spark to others.
In addition, I also created this to “pass the time” during the social distancing recommendations of COVID-19. Typically, in my free time, I explore “fun things” that relate to my regular work at Wilkes, but doing so much of that as we moved all of our courses online, I needed something unrelated to my work to do. That somehow ended up being creating a blog-aware using Jekyll on GitHub Pages with TailwindCSS.
Some of the other topics I’ll be discussing include:
- My neurotic physical and virtual environments, including my train wreck of a desk and the software I use
- What I’ve tried — and what worked, what didn’t work, and what proof-of-concept things I’ve built that are hanging around waiting for the right project to use them on
- Solutions to roadblocks I’ve encountered — so your head doesn’t hurt as much as mine does sometimes
- Random, smaller things I learn as I work on other projects, or just for fun.
Follow me on Twitter, where I’ll be posting as new posts are published.
